Greetings, I've have a gas/electric, small fridge in the poptop. It works on electricity, but I've not tried it on gas, yet.
I'm hoping to start staying at some free sites and I'm wondering how much gas the fridge will use?
Also, do you leave the gas on while driving? At present I have a small car fridge and transfer food in and out, which is a bit of a pain.
Not long ago I had twomscissor type springs put on front and back of poptop, in the hope I'd be able to raise and lower the top myself. It didn't help and somehow I now have a bent one on the power socket side of the van. Thanks to the help of a lovely gentleman we managed to get the top up - the spring was stuck under the lip of the top - and then after getting help lowering it I had to hit the spring with a hammer to get it back under the lip of the top.
My questions are: How did the spring bend?
Would I be best to change to gas lifters rather than replacing the spring?
Has anyone put a Jayco easy lift bar into a Viscount van?
I had a similar problem with my Viscount Grand Tourer so replaced the front and rear scissor springs with new ones, removed the side springs and installed 2 gas struts either side of the van which fixed the problem and is now much easier to lift by myself. Did the job myself so was a reasonably cheap exercise.
When I bought the van, also a little Grand Tourer, it didn't have any on the front and back, so I thought that may have been the problem with difficulty in lifting. Not so unfortunately. Is quite a laugh watching me hang from the handles, feet off floor, and it still won't come down.
I'll be going to Parkes to get it repaired. Will go with the gas lifters I think. I wish I could recall if the side one was bent before the end ones were put on. I hope it didn't bend because they were added.
