Salmon Gums Caravan Park, Norseman/Esperance, WA

This is a great little CP half way between Norseman and Esperance.

Flat metalled sites with power, water and sullage.

Run by the small community with a caretaker called Craig who lives on site.  He keeps the showers and toilets spotlessly clean and is very, very friendly and relaxed. He is only in his 30s and works full time on a farm, so if hes not there, just pick your own site.  Pay into the honesty box or he will knock on your door and give you a big country grin when he gets home from work and collects your money.

Youngish gum trees on most sites to provide shade and a grassed area for tents.

$10 unpowered, $15 powered, $5 if you want water hooked up to your RV.  New twin tub washing machine - $5.  Two large clothes line.

Rail line runs behind, but not noisy unless youre a light sleeper.

Has a pub, PO and BP.  Can get milk from Servo, but bring your own food and bread.  Pets OK.

Support this community CP and save money.  And yes, I have posted it on the WA free/low cost sites on the Forum

That one is on my must list Bruce, have heard good reports about it in the past, good value for such a remote place!

just to clarify the water costs - its $5 to hook water up to your van AND use their new twin tub washing machine, OR just to use the washing machine.

Water is precious, like most dry areas, here and the water is carted in by truck, hence the charge.

The current publicans are really nice people, but they are going to sell the place in a month (anyone want to own a country pub?) and have bought themselves a 5th wheeler and join us Nomads.

It's been there some time. See the Badgers reports on the place. They are favourable. There are instructions included to find the place.

extremely well signposted off the main road between Norseman and Esperance. If coming from the north, take 1st turn left past BP servo. Then just go straight through and across the railway line and turn right. Each turn is well signposted with the usual large blue caravan symbol signs. If you fail to turn right over the railway line, then your next point of interest is the cemetery about another 8km further along LOL

Badger doesn't always keep his site up to date, so don't rely on that only.   It is a private site run by one bloke (or was).

Weevil, Badger does not personally put much in in the way of reports. The site replies upon contributions from people like you and me. Perhaps you may care to provide an up to date report and do your little bit to assist travellers.

Every bit put in as you say has to be approved by Badger and sometimes he has been absent due to illness or away somewhere and it has to wait until he returns, and for your info, I have lodged reports for his site before when travelling.   I hope you are doing your bit for his site too and do you contribute to this forum also with feedback to help your fellow travellers ????

Good to see you contribute to Badger. There was a period where he had serious health problems and was even considering giving the site away. Things are all OK now so there has been less interruptions of his attendance.

The individual attention he gives to reports by new contributors is a good thing. It cuts out a lot of things like people just using the site as a bitch session after they have failed the personality test at a particular park. He has also trapped some bogus reports from park owners. When you have been contributing for a while (30 posts I think) he accepts you as a trusted member and your reports go straight in (unless you use the top box to flag you want him to see the contribution first.)

Yes, it is good to see he is still at it.   He was vetting contributions when I was feeding info to the site which is a good thing considering those with vested interests or having an axe to grind through their own actions putting in biased opinions.

Yep - the Badger site is great - use it often. He is always cautious with newbies until he sees you are a Nomad and not a CP owner or whatever or just a moaner who expects the Hyatt wherever they park their RV for the night.
