Please note changes to bushfire behaviour, extra information and what firefighters are doing.

A bushfire ADVICE remains for people travelling along Great Northern Highway, east of Calwynyardah-Noonkanbah Road and west of Fitzroy Crossing in the Shire of Derby West Kimberley. 

• There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.
• Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
• The fire is to the east of Calwynyardah-Noonkanbah Road near Great Northern Highway. 

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

• The bushfire behaviour is unpredictable due to variable winds in the area.
• It is out of control and unpredictable.

WHAT TO DO: 

• Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
• Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
• Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
• If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.

• The incident was reported at 3.45pm on Wednesday 9 September 2015.
• There has been approximately 228,000 hectares burnt.
• The cause of the fire is deliberately lit.
• People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
