We run 24 volt DC to 12 volt DC 40 amp converters in the bus I have one that is stop supplying the 13.9 volt on the outlet side, instead the power out starts at 24 volts and quickly dies to about 3 volts over about 30 seconds. Can any one advise some one in the South Brisbane area that does repairs to electronics. I have replaced this unit but if not too expensive I will have this unit repaired.
Not sure that you can get these fixed many of the quality ones are potted boards to save the circuit board from moisture, creatures etc. . Trymax marine trymax.com.au/ have a good reputation but will most likely charge you about $100 just to give you a quote, as would most workshops. I think these only cost about $190 so it may be cheaper to buy a new one not trying to tell granny how to suck eggs But remember that the rating is ONLY 20 amps continuous -- the 40 amp is a peak rating for a very short period of time.
Hope this helps cheers Ian

Thanks Ian yes they dropped the cont rating from 30 to 20 amp in the last few years they overheat badly I have a fan running on two of mine. Yes I know Trymax marine as I am a boatbuilder from brisbane and they would charge more that 100 per hour. I paid $148.00 for a new one. Just thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks for your reply you confirmed my thoughts.
