In 2008 On the Mc Cather river King Ash bay in the gulf over one week we saw 100's of the bast....d's. On  our last day on the river we were in a creek no more than 15metres across.

What at first I thougth was a tree stump on the bank.

It was in fact a 5mtr plus lizard sun baking ten metres from Lambie & I as we drifted past. I waited till we were safe enough away to start the motor and run!

Never Will I set foot in our 3.4mtr tinnie in croc waters never ever again.

The danger that I put both of us in, will live with us for all of our lives.crycrycry

Mmmmm, I had to read that twice Jim, at first I thought "Your Lambie" was sun baking near the croc and you took off but then I re-read it and it was only a small lizard sun baking. Mate just stand ya ground and point your fingers at him like Mick did to the water buffalo. Works a treat.

what a total prat the guy is in the 1st pic here......hopefully he is unmarried and has no children who will suffer by his absolutely idiotic behavior !!!

Oh, and the crocs were here before us and just like the sharks, its their turf. More people die from snake bites - are we going to kill all the snakes??

Thank you Bruce and Bev.   I get sooooo  fed up with people who automatically have the "KILL" knee-jerk reaction.   Why don't we just kill off all the Drunk Drivers on our roads at the same time.  They kill and maim a hell of a lot more people than Crocs and Sharks do.

Cheers,

Sheba.

I have to agree with you Bruce and Bev, it is the Croc's Turf,

I can-not understand the mentality of some people when they totally ignore all the signs of danger, in my book they deserve all they get, and they are the ones who yell "Cull the Croc's" When they get bitten or worse, their family member or friend is taken by a croc.

When we were up in the Northern Territory , we saw people swimming in pools where there were Croc signs as shown in the pictures, there was one twit who hung his towel over the sign, saying.... there, I'm safe now !!!

Crocodiles are easy. They try to kill & eat you. Humans are harder. They sometimes try to be your friend first. - Steve Irwin.

confuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuse. Heres my 2 bob,s worth. In the early 80,s there was a massive croc cull in the top half of WA croc numbers were drastically reduced .Now the beasts are getting back to the numbers that they were in the 80,s .It does not mean that there are more now than ever before just getting back to the way it used to be .And don't forget out of a clutch of say 100 eggs only 3-5 eggs reach maturity.Crocs self govern, in a river system the largest croc rules if there are to many he will kill or chase away competition .If there where to many crocs in the north the crocs would die out as a species . That my say what do you think.confuseconfuseconfuseconfuse Some people need to be protected from themselves...

Cruisaderhilton. Well said !!!

Look whats being done to the shark population - 1000's are targeted by Asian fishermen each day and hauled on board, have their fins chopped off with and axe and then pushed back into the sea to drown.

We bang on about Great Whites - but so many of our own native shark species are critically endangered, but too many people think a shark is a shark and therefore a killer of humans.

Im not a tree hugger but it seems a species called "human" are the biggest killers of other flaura and fauna on this planet !!

OK - I'll pick up my soap box and go rant somewhere else smile

Over in good old WA (Windy Allways) up on Niggaloo reef there's no shortage of Noah Arks.

We have had up to 24 swimming under the boat, at any one time. We even catchem on hard bodied lures.hmmhmmhmm

Saw this on an American forum "I don't have to go out and shoot all the stupid people, just get rid of all warning signs and they'll take care of it themselves". Looks like we can leave the signs for some of them.

Jim....fish n chips with red - its cardboard isn't it....c'mon tell me the truth now LOL Washing down chip fat or oil with red wine is not something Im really keen to try...hahaha

Ningaloo Reef (bloody Eastie - Niggaloo !!!) does have a lot of reef sharks and similar shallow water sharks on it, but if you take into account the 100s of 1000s of boaties that visit and fish off that huge length of reef and in its sheltered waters, that's a lot of sharks killed each year. Sharks are very slow growing, live for many years (some longer than humans) and only produce a few pups each year that survive other predators. And worse still Gummy, Grey Nurse and other totally protected sharks (many that have no teeth but use their "gums" to crush shell fish to eat) are also targeted and they are also critically endangered.

Sharks are Apex fish in the oceans. With over fishing of them, the balance of all fish species will be affected.

Off topic for crocs - but they are also Apex animals in their environment....

Oh, and Jim, a very serious lecture....sorry mate.....but no red with our fish and chips next year sushi.gif sushi.gif beer.gif beer.gif
