Feral Dogs - Safety

Not long ago I was about 80ks East of Wiluna on the Gunbarrel, walking in the bush and I spotted a wild dog. Big ugly brute he was with a thick head and powerfully built.  It was about 50 metres away and met my gaze. I was wondering if it had ever seen a human before or if it was sizing me up. I thought the later. Then it trotted off.  This sent a shiver down my spine and I will never sleep care free in a swag on the dirt again. Most definitely would be worried about children camping out.

What if these wretched creatures started to pack or, God forbid, rabies got loose in the environment? When Johhny Depp bought his dogs over and Barnaby Joyce gave him "what for!!??" I had no sympathy for Depp.  Much of the Eastern Goldfields WA are lousy with feral goats which would provide prey for a big dog.

I love to fall asleep in a swag in the 50thousand star hotel but I now have that nagging feeling about big predators.

Shut the front gate!

When I started to read that I thought you were talking about our 'Mongrel' here on the forum mate. It described him well biggrin  but then I read on further and you were talking about the four legged type. 

I don't like the sound of feral predators either,  ones with four legs, or two for that matter. 

keep Safe out there.

We had an idiot in thongs walking two very large dogs that he could not control . The result was that they attacked both Yvonne and our puppy Mason ,luckily no skin broken but an awful shock . I can imagine how you could fill your pants in that situation.as you say thank goodness there wasn`t a pack .

I lost my mother-in-law in this area a couple of years ago - the description sounds just like her.

A warning - when in this area, stay in your vehicles and she will attack without warning and rip your throat out  laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

Tried to take pics - broke the camera lens LOL

Seriously though, Bevs Mum is a really lovely person - kind and considerate and not like the archtypical TV mother-in-law. I enjoy her company........

You will love her when we stay with you in Sydney, Jim - irons your undies and socks (and stuffs up the elastic).

 Judging by the scale of that skull and trying to picture the musculature on it in life. That would have been a formidable dog right there.
