Broome Camps

The council has visited all overflow and other camp grounds yesterday and shut them down with a weeks grace. This means that only spots in Broome are caravan parks and the like. PCYC are the only ones left open but you must have cat or dog. Shire president owns one of the parks so go figure. Broome races on this week so spots at a premium, we wanted unpowered site and could not get one but because there were powered sites available it was too bad for us. Take a powered site and pay the price or move on. We moved on, after letting then know we would not be spending.

Hi Bob,

We give you a Hi five at moving on.

Broome Shire is on the nose. We have been there done that. There are plenty more places on the map.Broome is now over priced with FIFO holiday makers crawling all over the place.

Hey Jim & Lambie

Pulled two Coasters into a mates huge driveway in Broome last year for a visit on the way back to Darwin, was getting late so we decided to stay the night, about 08.45 the local dog catcher pulls up for a chat & informs me we cant "camp" the night here, we must move on to the nearest caravan park.

He was swiftly informed he was on private property (as we were) & it would be wise to leave before he made a total D@#k of himself.
Prowled past several times in the morning until we left & followed us just out of town.

Upshot is my mate wrote a letter of complaint to the council about the harassment & only ever got an acknowledgement of his letter, never a reply to his complaint.
Told us were welcome back to stay on our way to Albany this year & we will, we just don't patronise any businesses in town, not even for fuel while were there.

I see on the News that the Ladies races in Broome have been cancelled due to some mysterious slippery substance on the track,

Has a Free Camper had his/her revenge for being told to move on ??????   biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

The Broome Gateway is a great park, no power, genies can run 8am to 8pm, but with solar no need. There is water, and the amenities are terrific. Cheaper than anywhere else in Broome, and about 15 minutes from town.
