24hr BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

how, all,

Has anyone had one of these contraptions and have you actually taken cuff off the arm in between checks? It is set for every 30mins during the day and every hour at night until 9.30am tomorrow, Tuesday.

I can't see why I couldn't during the day anyway as I have my own monitor and know how to put the cuff on.

Very annoying contraption here in the tropics of Townsville.

I know, I'm being naughty but there ya go, that's me.

Hi Doug, now don't be naughty, and do as the nice doctor asked and leave the 24 hour monitor on for 24 hours. I've had to wear one on a couple of occasions and admit it can be a bit of a pain, but you wouldn't get a complete 24 hour reading if during the day you only took your blood pressure say every hour or so. I imagine the  reason for continuous wear is so that the monitor records your response for everyday things, like walking to the mail box, tying your shoes, etc., etc. Hope all is well with you and the results don't show anything of a worrying nature. Keep enjoying all that sunshine up north.

Cheers,

Annie

Never had to wear one but I think you should leave it on - would taking it off and putting it on less tightly not give a different reading than tightly.  Just guessing but I would leave it be so the results are consistent and meaningful.

Oh ok then, I will leave it on. It was only the cuff I was going to take off during the day not actually turn it off. I was going to be sneaky and put the cuff back on just before it started to pump away. Never mind, the day us done, now to get through the night.

Would mentioning the twins effect the results?

Yippee!! My BP is down to 129/69 today, reading on my own monitor. See doctor tomorrow. Thank you Sheba for finding the monitor for me and bringing it out on your visit last week.

Dougwe, do as you are told and keep it on and follow all other instructions from doctor too, good luck.
