I'm in Melbourne at the moment, it also cold but I loved the photos of snow on Clifton beach that the news programs were showing last night, very strange, anyone got any "stuck" stories???we'd love to hear them, BG I was surprised to see you still at home, I thought you might be amongst the migration "herd" up North.

We live on 30 acres near Judbury in south Tassie & the woodheater has the house at about 26c at the moment & I am looking at the snow melting on the hills. The Mercedes Sprinter campervan is tucked up in the shed. The only times I have ventured outside the last two days was to take the rubbish bins down to the bottom of the drive for collection & to replenish the inside firewood supplies. Its great to see the snow but not so good for the non retirees trying to get to work lol.
Not in Tassie, but near to Bright where we will be for the next four or five weeks. Saw snow today from the road from Yackandandra on Mt Buffalo. Beautiful. We are currently camped up beside the Ovens River near Myrtleford VIC, before arriving tomorrow at our house sit. Had a camp fire dinner tonight, but the diesel heart is PUMPiNG!

Lovely part of Tassie where you are, like you I have acreage with a nice wood heater keeping it nice inside, my place is on the south east slopes of the snowy mts, same situation as yourself, snow everywhere, best place is inside with a book near the fire till I have to replenish the wood supply, thankfully the snow doesn't last long, I was going to Tas for Agfest this year but had to change my plans, probably a good thing, abit cold in my little camper, enjoy the snow while you can, makes a mess doesn't it?
Don't be put off coming over to Agfest next year as it is a great event. Most free camps at that time of year you can have a fire pot & bring a heater if stoping in CP. There are plenty of nice spots in Tassie to visit (including our place if were are home) & at that time of year just make sure you have warm clothing & bedding in your camper. Our Mercedes Sprinter Campervan at 6m gets on the ferry at car rates but pays to book in advance over & return if you are on a time schedule because height restrictions limit available spaces for campervans & motorhomes not price.

Agfest is a Tasmanian Rural youth agricultural show event etc held over 3 or 4 days in May each year- sadly you may just miss out. Just google or type Agfest Tasmania in your internet search engine for a lot of info. Spending 6 months in Tassie starting at that time of year will give you a chance to have a good look around & make the cost off your trip over & back (if you decide to go back) on the Ferry well & truly worthwhile. We are born & bred Tasmanians, been married 41 years & still live on the same country road we both grew up on so are naturally biased on our view of Tassie as being the only place to live, although as yet we have only had 3 extended Mainland trips to NSW, SA & QLD. If you wish get in touch when you are in our area & we may be able to catch up but in the warmer months we tend to get away on our yacht more than the campervan ( if you don't get sea sick a few nights away sailing/fishing/cruising may be able to be arranged).

Hi Bucko... Arrived back in Tassie on July 01 after 3 months in Victoria, which included around 5 weeks at Greens Lake alongside Glenelg.. Had no interest in going north this year..

Sorry I missed you at "greens" I been wandering around Vic myself for a while, an eventful couple of months, had a few chest problems, ended up with 3 stents to put me back on the road again, wonderful when you get all the fuel lines running properly, just on my way back home in a week or so and hopefully will be back in Tas next year for "Agfest" I have been going to "Agfest" for the last 20 years or so for work and classify it as if not the best Rural show in the country, then bloody close, I used to attend most of the shows around the country for work and always looked forward to going to Tas in May.
Daffy,
Thanks very much for the invite, very kind of you, I have made a few friends over the years going across the ditch to Tas, you are alway some of the friendliest people in the country and live in the most beautiful place going, a pity about some of the CVP owners, they are doing their best to stear the lower end of the traveller market away from Tas with the attack on the free camps, I've been camping across Tas as a pensioner for the last 7 years until I ran up against Mr Meeakin at Gowrie park, a very unpleasant experience, after spending $2500 in 7 days but not staying in CVP's, we were called bludgers and parasites by Mr Meekin for staying overnight at O'Neil park, it left a sour taste in the mouth.
I just read your other reply and now I know why you are so friendly, your a "Yachtie" as well, I had a 50' Ferro yacht that I sailed along the east coast, "Barefoot Bound" it was a Samson design, a comfortable liveaboard, I swallowed the anchor after the divorce and bought a "land" yacht, a lot easier to steer on your own in bad weather, Ahoy!!!

Yeah, Dave left not long after me. We were alongside each other for several weeks and consumed vast quantities of RED !! Apart from Jack Daniels, RED is my second favorite !! Great place Townsville, haven't been there for several years, back in the TAA days...
