While traveling around Darwin in a lost sort of way today we stumbled onto one of those wicked nests, they must have hatched in the fine weather up here there were alest 20-25 of them, if only I new what bait to use. I also noticed that they now have sadans with rooftop tents on them. Have seen three or four in last couple of days. All types of cars. they do look a it more respectful than some of the vans.

G'day. Do not worry too much about those wicked nests. They are a reoccurring problem at this time but as soon as the build up happens they mysteriously disappear only to reappear next dry season. it appears they are allergic to hot and humid weather. nothing else seems to affect them so (at the moment) we have to put up with them. It is true that they seem to have morphed from what they were to now they are in many different varieties. roll on the build up.
Cheers

When I was in Byron running a C/P we had regular nests, up to 25 at a time. The occupants were great kids and had bucket loads of money to spend.
The story of the Wicked Vans is interesting, a Qld mechanic, I think based in Rainbow Beach at the time, did up a couple of old vans, painted them up rather than take out the dents and hired them out. Now has expanded into New Zealand. USA and Europe. Not bad for an Aussie!
Live and let live, sure some oversees tourist, have comments for GN'S, they contribute to our economy and by the by are polite, too much judgemental stuff , there is an area at CLEVERVILLE north of Karratha called 'Honda Hill', the ritz GN'S. this is anothers opinion not mine , as I say live and let live, cheers.

Peter - it is CLEAVERVILLE - and it used to be Honda City, but now is called Solar City. Things have changed apparently at Cleaverville, 28 day stay only, not sure about the price.

Every time we camp in the same campground as a few Wicked Campers my Wife finds shoe prints on the toilet seat in the Women's loos. One day she accidentally walked in on a woman standing on the seat after she checked under the door that there were no feet in the cubicle! LOL. Overseas tourists must have a different method of squatting to Aussie females? Or maybe they just enjoy more difficult target practice? LOL.

Like the grey nomads these overseas tourists are keeping the economy ticking along in remote Australia - most of them, even the free campers are on all the tourist attractions and daily-tours and are very polite and interesting to talk to - yea to them I say.

We met a lot of overseas tourists on our trip , most very pleasant and love a chat ,I think they get a bad rap from a few ,like always only takes one or two to stuff it up ,a lot of Europeans have seen more than we have .
