I will stick with Win7 for the time been
Don't forget next year you have to pay Microsoft to use Win 10
I spend a fortune over the years to use there products
Not going to pay again next year
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with Win7

I don't think you're reading that right !

If you currently have a legal copy of Win 7 or Win 8.1 on an existing PC, Win 10 is a FREE upgrade for the life of the product, but the free upgrade is only available for one year.

The only time you have to pay for Win 10 is-

1) if you have let the free one year offer lapse,

2) or you decide you wanted a new boxed retail copy of Win 10,

3) or you buy a new PC, which would have Win 10 pre-installed and you would be paying for that initial copy in the price of your new PC.

Haven't installed it yet so soldiering on with 8.1. Figured I would wait until those braver than me have worked the bugs out of it before I take the plunge, Every new Windows has had bugs and I don't suppose this one will be any different but will watch posts for encouraging news updates.

Stay with win 8. win 10 doen,t like older wireless modems

Left Windows and went to Mac 6yrs ago and have yet to regret my change. My wife worried as she was getting familiar with windows but even she noticed how much easier it was to use. Oh and I have never had a crash or needed to install drivers etc. happy happy happy....

I'm trying to understand why people who run alternative operating systems feel the need to reply to a thread that is titled (Installed Windows 10) confuse

Having had a laptop for years running on Windows 7. I recently bought two new lappys running on 8.1, with the promise of 10. Had major issues with 8.1, but since installing 10, all issues seem to have been resolved. Only thing I don't like is the streaming to THE CLOUD which takes up download space, until you kill the cloud.

Well! that went well, all up took a couple of hours

I'm now working from my laptop using Windows 10.

Looks good, all programs operational, settings saved and dead easy to navigate.

Early days yet, so far, great success. biggrin

Shouldn't be any issues with wireless modems that you connect to via WiFi such as Spida's Telstra 4G or its descendents. Problems might occur with modem 'dongles' which are plugged into a USB port and therefore may require updated drivers.

The thought has never crossed my mind, not sure why so many claim 8.1 was a drama, never really had a problem with it.

However what I will say is that 10 is certainly cleaner and easier to navigate now that we have the start menu back.

I'm rapt. biggrin

I did, I then ate it, problem now solved. Why do you keep rabbiting on when others have told you that your comments are not welcome? When people have good equipment and want to improvement without further expense (particularly Apple's price gouging expense?)

My, aren't we the touchy one today? Sorry I offended your sensitivities Peter. I didn't realise my sarcasm was a tad too subtle. I was actually having a dig at the Apple promoters who seem to want to comment on everything unrelated to Apple. Gee, now that I've had to explain it, it's taken all the fun out of it.

I have just put 10 on as a clean install, Took no more than 30 min. Still trying to work out whats under the hood. So far it seems good very fast stable and the computer I put it on had internet via wifi (USB). No drivers are available for any wifi device under 10 at this stage, So my parts supplier said.

So I had a set of powerline lan devices that I bought off a mate and worked like a charm, problem solved.

This is my better half's computer and it had an i3 with 2 gig ram Vista and was pretty slow to boot up and settle down.

Now I have used a SSD drive as primary i5 with 8 gig and it boots up in like 10 sec, shuts down in about same time. Very happy.

I have the gear now to build mine to slightly better specs, My problem has been I was reluctant to ditch my old printer and scanner, My old HP4L printer is 20 year old Paid 1.1k for it and my scanner is scsi 1 so no hope of that running under 10. So I had to bite the bullet and upgrade the lot. It took me 2 weeks to get the scanner going under win 7x64. Modern motherboards do not have isa slots and using a later scsi card just doesn't make economic sense now.

Mine is running 7x64 at present and I think from early observations 10 seems better, but time will tell.

Although the Sierra is called 'wireless' it is plugged in via USB hence my nervousness to update :) Maybe Murraman - above this - may have answered my concern re USB wifi

Ah, sorry Spida, I assumed you had the same as my previous device, a Telstra 4G wireless wifi modem/router - will teach me to read posts more thoroughly in future

I'm sure device makers will be releasing updated drivers in due course.

No problem Joe. smile I do have a prepaid wireless one but I would rather use the Sierra as my son pays the monthly account - hence my reluctance to update and find it wont work biggrin

Afraid I'm a wait and see person ..... never ever bought a new car with a "new" engine, always watch and wait when it comes to software ...... feel vindicated by leaving Windows 8 alone.
