I came across the same warnings for my heart medication, blood pressure etc. What's in the grapefruit? Why don't lemons do the same thing? I'm not into chemistry so there must be some variation in the juice makeup eh. Sometimes if one reads the brochures accompanying medication you wouldn't take 'em,after going through all the side effects!
Furanocoumarins are organic chemical compounds present in grapefruit, that can affect the rate at which drugs are processed by the liver.
I know what you mean about the side effects list Sheeds. They are scary.
During my treatment they wanted me to take part in a new drug trial, 50/50, new drug or placebo. There was a 50 percent chance of depression as a side effect (I read that in the agreement) and is the reason why they wanted me to be interviewed by a psychiatrist before I started the trial.
