Seemed OK when we were there but that was only a short visit.the crime is behind the counter with the prices they charge.

Broome has always had a major problem with the locals and their ability to handle alcohol. This stems back to the local police O.I.C not enforcing the laws with licensees and the on-going breaches of serving to drunks and the under age. A change of face at the top in Broome would go a long way to helping the problems there. The increase in police is also because of the influx of new mining staff, drugs and alcohol.

Broome didn't have a major problem 'til the Govt started moving people from outer communities into town. I agree with Dennis and Yvonne about the prices. Broome is a rip off it was a nice place but no longer worth the visit.

We spent a month in Broome in 2013 and found that the prices in the major supermarket were very close to what we paid at home. Remember the distance you travelled to get there. Everything has to be transported in from elsewhere.
I will hide from the flack now! But we would go back tomorrow.

We wasted our fuel going all the way to Broome about 4 years ago,  Couldn't find a Caravan Park with a vacancy anywhere,

Because we had the caravan in tow, there was no-where to even park, the place was chock-a-block,  we ended up driving back down the highway about 100km to find a camping site where we were allowed to stop for the night,

From what we saw while driving around town, there was a lot of  derelict buildings along the main street that should have been bowled over years ago, there were thousands of tourists everywhere but never saw a happy face at all, maybe they had been ripped off already and were wishing they were somewhere else.

"Nup" just another over rated camp site with the usual amount of drunks under every bit of shade, once bitten ( by the Mozzies ) twice shy,

Won't be heading back there again.
