Hi All, has anyone had the clear view mirrors installed and what are your thoughts. Am thinking of getting a set on our BT 50, appreciate your thoughts

I was thinking of getting them on my BT50, but after talking to a bloke in Pemberton who had them on his BT, he advised that it created a bad blind spot due to the position of the mirrors.

I have a Ford Ranger and there is a blind spot with standard mirrors when turning right say at lights or into a dual carriage way and there is a low level curb impossible to see .I would think with the mirrors in would create a major blind spot .
I agree with jrq the blind spot makes it difficult looking right and low kerbs are a problem. That's why I decided not to get the clear view mirrors, particularly after speaking to the bloke who has them on his BT. he also said his wife is too scared to drive the vehicle since he put them on. I bought Milenco mirrors and I installed the holders on the bottom of the standard mirrors and they work a treat
I have Clearviews on my D-Max, sure, they do create a 'blind spot', as do normal external mirrors, and the internal mirror, and the windscreen pillars and the gps, and the windscreen phone mount.
As a driver we need to be aware of these spots and always look around them when necessary.
The thing is, with Clearviews, they are only a 20 minute job to remove, take them off when not touring as you do with 'strap ons'.
The benefits are , just the best rear vision, you can see where you stopped for lunch yesterday! Also no 'semi slap'.

I have them and really like them, a word of warning though, be careful of fully extending them. On the way to Tin Can Bay I crossed a very narrow bridge and as fate would have it, another caravan was crossing at the same time with his mirrors fully extended also, as we passed our mirrors touched and mine now has cracked clears on the outer of the drivers side...I would presume that the same thing happened to the other caravan.
The mirrors only need half extension to have a full and complete view, otherwise, be very wary of narrow passage ways.

We have had them for over 3 years and done the lap around. They are the best thing ever. When you go to the shops and park just push them in against the doors. Get black not chrome as the sun hits the bottom arm and back in your face. Sorry Wizardofoz but we travel at a speed that we can slow down at a narrow bridge and let the other van go through. You are very lucky that all you have is a cracked outer clear and not the side of your van taken out.

I don't think so,m the mirror should have just folded back, possibly broken but that's all, in any case it was a 2 lane bridge just out of Gympie and I was on the bridge when the other caravan entered it And I immediately realised that he had his mirrors fully out and it was going to be a close pass, I moved as far left as possible and we still brushed mirrors.
I fail to see how I could have done anything else and by the way, at the time I was doing no more than 40 kmh, I don't consider that fast, do you? so I repeat, only fully extend them if absolutely necessary as you never know what's around the next bend. (In my opinion of course).

We have Clearview Mirrors on our Prado. Best thing since sliced bread. We've had a variety of other mirrors and these are by far the best. As we also tow a Vista RV Crossover as well as our van we've found them excellent. When travelling on narrow bush tracks we fold them in, eg the Anne Beadell and that is to save them from being damaged. As soon as we can they are folded out again. We would have had these 3-4 years and at this stage would never go back to the other varieties.

Have them on my cruiser, and love them.They have the split mirrors, to see that blind spot down the side of tug, just magic.
After travelling 40,000 kms the drivers side one started folding in when a semi went past. Called into Clearview in Melb and had them fixed in an hour, for free. Great service, can't fault them.
