Combi Heater Swift 28lt

Hi All,

just wondering if anyone has installed or knows about this relatively new heating system that works off the hot water system.

Is it efficient, economical and can it be run while traveling like you can a diesel about an hour before you stop for the night when it's freezing.confuseevileye

or does an Ibis reverse cycle heating and cooling unit work ok with out installing the swift?

cheers.

Thanks Dogbox does that also apply to inverter style split systems which seem to be coming more popular due to less power and softer starting with either solar or genie.

no it is how reverscycle aircon works if the outside temp drops below the operating temp of the unit there is no heat exchange so it doesn't work usually just above freezing
it works great till it gets to cold then you need another source of heating

might not be clear but i'm sure someone may have a better explanation

Hi, do you mean the combi heater fitted to swift caravans?. We have a swift caravan with a combi heater. It runs on gas and/or 240 volts. The heating system is ducted air and is very efficient. The heater uses water in the heat exchanger that is different and separate from the van domestic hot water, in other words, the hot water from the taps does not run through the heating system.

Sorry should have explained a bit better no the van isn't a swift the combi heating unit is manufactured by Swift who make a fair bit of caravan gear, microwaves ovens and other gear. The system you are talking about could be similar or the same. Do you know who made it and or installed it.
Thanks

if are talking about a gas heater they are much more efficient than an aircon for heating

I was liking the sound of these units myself, but Mr Google just supplied me with this

https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1065538

Commonwealth logo and the ACCC logo  Product Safety Recalls Australia

probably worth a read...  may still be worth buying when they sort it out...

Actually, I see Truma has sent out a recall last November...

Lets hope someone who has got one tells us how good it it.

Thanks for that advice we will now contact the van manufacturer and ask the obvious ' did they now there was a recall' and secondly if so has it been rectified etc
Great heads up that advice
Cheers
