Cheap BACKYARD CARAVAN SITES

Hi all,

Read an article in the Saturdays edition of the Daily Telegraph Sydney, today. Re: Leting  out your Driveway / Backyard for $15- $30 a night to make ends meet.

I think this would  help out everyone.

1. Pensioners with big back yards needing a bit of CASH.

2. Caravaners / campers get a good deal, especially around our capital cities, with a shortage of sites.

This young guy has started a web site, that people can join. I think its called BACKYARD CAMPS or HOME CAMPS. Someone may help me on that one.

I would consider it for Melbourne at Xmas time as the tennis is allways on in January.

As you have bucklies of getting a site near the city. If you do score its as tight as a drum and costs are outragus to boot.

Gday...

I think this is the site you are referring to Jim -

https://www.home-camp.com/

I recall this site from a few weeks ago .... on  TV news I think ... haven't done any checking into it .. unsure if caravan 'camping' is included - but who knows

Cheers - John

Gday...

I thought I would have a bit of gander on the Home-Camp site.

These are a few examples. Way too pricey for me cry

$30 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/1428006053265_Gisborne-South_Gisborne-Home-Camps.html

$30 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/143426855371_Pearcedale_Rural-retreat-on-the-Mornington-Peninsula-close-to-stunning-beaches-wineries-and-Melbourne-CBD.html

$40 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/1426928286103_Austral_Country-Acreage-in-South-West-Sydney.html

$20 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/1429679037958_Gungal_Ginger-Beer-Springs.html

$10 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/1435237045351_Gin-Gin_selectedly-cleared-natural-bushland-12-kms-from-nearest-town-of-Gin-Gin-in-QLD-.html

$40 per night per person - https://www.home-camp.com/spots/1428629531560_Kepnock_central-location-quiet-safe-neighborhood-easy-going-young-home-owners.html

May have potential for many travellers ... but my budget certainly would not stretch to them  hmm

Have a gander for yourselves

Cheers - John

$20 would need to be the maximum, but maybe some character references may be applicable for owners,
especialy if the house toilet is to be used and open all night.

We have had people on this forum trying to sell their front lawn at caravan prices , For my money a caravan park would be much better than someone front lawn

CMCA now have a plan where members can list that they have room for Motorhomes or Vans of members, for overnight or longer stays on their property, they are also in the process of setting up member parks.
Cheers

Hmm food for thought. I have given up travelling for a while but have rented a property right in batchelor NT. Large yard, drive in one gate and out another. Shady and across the road from 2 police residences and walking distance to all facilities. I have two over friendly dogs though and you'd need an on board loo. Dump site is close. Room for two vans. Thinking 15 per night per van or 10 if you stay for more than 3. Does that sound fair? Pm me if you would like to know more. I'd particularly like to help pensioners like myself.

Hi brickies,

We have met many long time friends on our travels from WA, SA. we know them so well, that we extend our home and back yard to them, totally secured.

We have a hard floor stand  full concrete with both Power + water and direct connection to the sewer. If they do not have the luxury of an ensuit, our second bathroom + laundry is at their disposial.

We have the best times here. They can walk to catch the train 10min, or bus into the city, catch a ferry to the city and onto Manly or where  they ever they want. They come and go at will, at no cost. Its a reciprocal arrangement. We have such a big FAMILY I tell the COUNCIL to GET STUFFED. IF they have a Problem. Put it in Writing. Eight years down the track. Shut up OR PUT UP. never had a problem.

Still looking for the VIC connection.

Hey Jim & Lambie
