Welcome to the gang Buggsy, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I would check the specs of both vehicles first but I would say the Falcon would handle up to 16ft but the Rav4 I wouldn't go over 12ft. I haven't actually seen a Rav4 towing a van just camper trailers.

I would also check the rating of the tow bar on both vehicles to make sure they can handle a van.

Good luck with it all and keep safe out there.

confuseconfuseconfuse Gday Buggsy welcome to the forum I have seen falcons towing 18 foot full vans and Rav4 towing camp trailers and Avans but best way to be sure of what you can realistically tow check your vehicle owners book which will tell you what the maximum braked weight you can tow, its important to remember that max weight is a fully loaded van so if you buy a van with a compliance plate weight close to your vehicle maximum you are going to be overweight which is not only illegal but very dangerous,

Hope you find a good one and enjoy this beautiful country.winkwinkwink

If you look in your manual for the Falcon, it will give you the weights allowable.

My parents toured for 15 years using a 4.1 litre manual ford station wagon with dual fuel. He used to swear by it. They had various vans all around the 16 -18 foot mark.

The following spec are on "carsales.com " and show about 1600kg towing which is not a lot for the falcon. You would need a caravan around 1300kg max

1998 Ford Falcon GLi EL

Transmission 4 speed Automatic
Body 4 doors 5 seat Sedan
Drive Type Rear Wheel Drive
Engine 6 cylinder Petrol Aspirated 4.0L
Towing Braked 1,600
