Improving Radio Receptrion

Annoyed by poor radio reception in my Colorado 2014. Travelling from Melbourne to Townsville luck to pick up 1 or 2 stations in Northern NSW and Southern Ql;d. Would a bigger aerial on bullbar make a difference. Any ideas appreciated.

Terry

Hi Terry,
From my experience, AM reception of modern cars can be crap because overseas they generally only use FM now. So the tuners are not very good. Some aftermarket brands of radio can have a "super tuner". The standard small car aerials can have a booster built in under the roof which also favours FM. :)

A bigger aerial always helps. I think now-a-days the country is serviced by local FM stations in the larger towns with limited range, so search for them when close to a town. The days of a big AM aerial servicing the whole countryside seem to have faded. :)

Id keep the antenna and put a ford ranger under it, that's cause Im a ford man. lol

Seriously, you may have a few bad connections or corroded connections. Try these and see if it makes a difference. Are there any hi gain antennas for the colly? Check with your dealer.

Cheers

Love ya work Hats, and its good to see you back with us again.

Im still very much thinking there may be a sloppy connection or feeder issue.. Never mind.. BTW a Troopy is also a great tug..

Cheers

Giday Terry,

I've got a 2014 Collie too, but haven't had any trouble with radio reception on either AM or FM.

Maybe a quick call to Holden may be of assistance. I'm sure that other owners will give you better advice than me so good luck.

Allan

tcp99   what did you go with... I too have a Coli that wont find a station... on seek it just annoyingly selects static every .5 on the FM dial and not much better on the AM side.  If you happen to google to fins the local (ABC) station signal you can sometimes do better... well, I did once....

And as for the Ford jokers... Holden built the fault in so the competitors had something to say they did better... LOL.  What are we gunna be driving in three years time... nodisbelief  or is it just the badge on the front that counts???confuse
