G'day all,

Having just returned from our 2 month trip to Mt. Isa and back we had to do 

some maintenance work on the tug.

Had the mechanic check out the idle speed. He said it's ok but whats that 

water down there? Radiator leak from the O Ring on the bottom tank. New radiator.

Had a look at the tyres and they looked a little low. New set required having done 82840klms

they were goodyear wranglers 235/65/R 17,not made anymore,new version called efficient grip SUV,

it will be interesting to see if they do the same distance.

Now the service is done,radiators done, new tyres, great now to relax,wait for the finances to regroup,no

and organise/plan/dream about our next adventure.smile

For a change the car has had more work done on it than on me.biggrin

Great to see you have made it home safely from your trip peterpan. Lovely to meet you along the way too.

I had to replace 2 tyres a couple of weeks ago. When to spray on some tyre shine to find one tyre had a huge jagged gash about a foot long along the outer edge. Could see the webbing inside. Such a shock, had no idea how long it had been like or how it happened. Went straight to tyre shop and had them replaced.

I was pleased to read of your trip.

Would you be so kind as to let us know where you started from. what route you took, some of the "must see things" along the way, and finally what were you towing and with what?

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Happywanderer (Marj ) that would be a real shock,still it must have been a really tough tyre.

Keiron, the trip started in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, 1st stop was at Urana just up from Corowa.

$19 pn for couples $15 for singles. Scones on arrival and windscreen cleaned on departure. The town is 

small but has some interesting sculptures. Huge Spider on the water tank near the lake, steel horse at trough

with corregated iron sheep and stockman next to it. Forbes was next, then Coonabarrabran,a nice town, good bookshops,

Gundawindi I wouldn't stay at the Big 4 again not a lot of value for money. Possum Park up from Miles. A nice Park

$25pn, the history is amazing and staff are great. Theodore Showgrounds,$15pn $75pweek. good ammenities, the town is just a short walk

away.

Emerald Showgrounds $25pn went into Emerald and met Happywanderer and her cute pup. Lovely lady, great to meet her.

Barcaldine, interesting area,lots of history made here, then off to Winton another great place and the Waltzing Matilda venue is fantastic.

It had a big fire just recently though. The Bore was was smelly and horrible.

Dropped into the Walkabout Hotel,of Crocodile Dundee fame in McKinlay, it has some history attached to it.

 Named after a great explorer allthough not well knownThe truck stop next door has great food reasonably priced and the truckies are friendly.

Travelled on through Kynuna, Cloncurry to Mt.Isa. We then turned around and came back through Ilfracombe,great happy hour , bit squishy

though.  Then to quaint little spot called Tambo. Polo crosse championships were on when we were there. Roma then onto Dirrinbandi, Lightning 

Ridge, big fire at happy hour with pumpkin soup and damper one night.  Continued down through Walgett (  breath tested here ) 

 then to Gulargambone $20pn, pizza and damper at happy hour, fire goes nonstop. Cooked meals Wednesday and Sunday nights around $10ea.

Then home via Forbes, Urana, and Benalla.

What were we towing? A little Jayco Starcraft (12ft 6" ) What with ? A Great Wall x240 2.4lt Petrol Suv. Average fuel consumption was

13.379l/100k or around 21.208mpg.

Sorry for the long post but once I started going through where we'd been,disbeliefdisbeliefdisbelief

I even cut it down as my trip diary was 6 pages long.no
