Last night a young lass ran into the back of my new DMAX and did some damage to the rear bumper bar which I think will need to be replaced instead of a costly repair, the damage to her car is quite a lot.
I contacted APIA this morning who answered the phone with a human on the third ring, I was then put straight through to a very helpful lady in Claims who took down the details.
The assessment has been booked in and my replacement hire car booked while the repair is done.
I have to say that the courteous and prompt manner in which they have dealt with my claim is very reassuring.
I am glad you had a better result than I did with CIL recently. I had a problem in that during our last trip a mouse got into the generator and ate all the wiring.
I rang CIL and a Claims Officer took the details, checked his PDS book (which I didn't have as we were on the road) and stated "all good, vermin is not excluded so we will pay $2000 less your $200 excess. Go buy a new one, send us a copy of the receipt, a statement from a repairer saying repair is uneconomical and a couple pics of the damage."
I complied with this and finished our trip.
Still not hearing anything about a month later I rang them to check on progress. "Sorry, page 5,756 of the PDS, in small print says Vermin Not Covered, claim rejected!"
Not happy as I would have bought a cheapie, perhaps a second hand gennie if I had known we were on our own.
Cheers Neil

My dad always said, read the small print first on any document before signing up.
I speaking to a tow truck driver the other day, he said you would be mad if you don't have full comprehensive insurance in Sydney. He tows at least 10 unregistered vehicles a day after police have stopped the vehicle and taken the plates, business is so good he no longer has to work after hours or on weekends. lol
You don't want to have an accident with an unregistered vehicle particularly if they are in the wrong.
