Hi LuWil,

We have an induction plate and we love it, instant heat and cool to touch, we got it with our thermal cooker and we use both all the time. I havn't had any drawbacks only possitive experience so far, we have just fitted an inverter as we can drop our plate power down to 800w so we can run for a short time, you only need a short time because they cook so quickly. Have fun with it.

I have a Baumatic Dryer bought at The Good Guys. The dryer belt broke and I phoned them to find the service agents. They gave me the name of the registered agents.I phoned them and they told me I would have a job finding agents for service and parts.

They gave the brand away because there were never parts available or service manuals.

I got my parts from a large whitegoods service company who matched the belt to an Electrolux belt the same dimensions.

Might be an idea to check the warranty and backup before buying the brand.

The only drawback, if you want to call it that, is that you need to buy cookware that will work with induction. Basically anything that a magnet will stick to the base of will work. Other than that they're fantastic!

Do buy a decent quality one though, I bought a couple of cheapies on eBay ($50 ea delivered) and they do tend to overheat a bit if using a biggish sized skillet. I'd recommend spending closer to $100 to get a better quality one.

From what I've read, Baumatic aren't very good :(

Many thanks for your replies. I think I will buy one ...I hear that Hardly Normal (Harvey Norman) will stock a new Phillips one from next month.

We love our induction cook plate! It works on almost anything except aluminum. We use a stainless steel frypan from ALDI and it works brilliantly. Apparently they are also good with the Dreampots as well. Buy one. You won't regret it.

We have a $50 job from Kmart. It has a 12 month warrantee so no problems so far. Being the cynic that I am, I expect it to go bungo at the 12 month and one day mark. BTW it's brilliant, saves a lot on gas.

Our cheapie, bought 3 years ago is still going strong, we bought a spare one which is still in the box it came in "just in case" we love ours and use it every day when on power.
So versatile and quick and the heat is so controllable, I now use a cast iron skillet and small cast iron dutch oven on it, wife does the steamed veggies most nights too. Oh and a wok for stir fries and home cooked chips.

I have a New Wave Portable Induction Cooker and I love it. It is great when it is very windy as it will not go out.

It cooks really well and quickly I bought my on the Internet and it came with a pot for $100.00. You must have the correct pots/pans to use if a magnet sticks to the bottom it will work.

I would highly recommened it. hope this has been helpfull Good luck with your cooking.
