it was 3 weeks ago yesterday that hubby & I hitched the van and left our home behind to join the world of grey nomads. We have finally arrived in Winton ( 1 day to late to see the Waltzing Matilda Centre so that was a bit of a downer ) and so far I can say its the best thing we ever did. I met another grey nomader ( Noelene ) at Longreach this morning as we prepared to leave....actually met her when we first arrived but only found out this morning she is a member of this group. We have seen some sights, avoided any major arguments and have just enjoyed ourselves along the way. We have about 12 months left on our journey but at the rate we are travelling we may need longer but, hey, who cares, we certainly don't.
The life of a grey nomad is suiting us perfectly.

Nomading is often as good as the nomads make it.......relax, move when you feel in the mood to, don't overplan, but know where youre going when you go or have a good GPS (lol), laugh a lot and have a drink or two (tea, coffee or something stronger).
But take lots of pics of all the places you visit - without photos some places get forgotten as you see so much. We always take some pics of where we stayed - whether it was a CP or free camp - just to show the envious working friends just what a fantastic time youre having and youre not in a tatty blanket under some muddy bridge at night lol

hey Bruce and Bev, have you read our travel plan cos you nailed it, especially the ' move when you feel in the mood '. We are currently in Winton with original plan to move on today, got up this morning and decided to stay another day. Will be moving on tomorrow heading for Cloncurry which hubby says is at least 3 days away. As for photos, digital cameras were the best thing ever invented so far I have taken about 1,000 photos which over the next few weeks will give me heaps to do of an evening as I sort thru them. Have made separate folder for each place we stop so I don't forget where anything was taken. Have posted many pics on facebook so family and friends can see just how hard our life is now we are on the road lol

It only seems like yesterday you told us you were heading off. You have slotted in well to the GN life style for sure. I too set up a different folder for each stopover.

Wife thought I was a bit strange taking photos of street/place signs when arriving at places we travel, I found that I sometimes had difficulty remembering which photo's were taken where when a download was of several hundred photo's ahh the stressful life on the road.
Grounded for 2 years now until our next trip (the big lap) so plenty of time to go through them & put them onto files.
