It's not V8 Supercars where 2lb tyre pressure can make a difference in grip..
Nor is tyres as in plane getting cold enough to freeze any moisture in three..
As stated above, there are particular reasons nitrogen is used in aeroplane and racing car tyres. The ONLY advantage to using it in your Van or tow vehicle is that nitrogen takes a lot longer to bleed thru the tyre wall compared to normal air. What amuses me is that tyre is never properly evacuated before they put the nitrogen in.

Hi Mike196,
If the normal air bleeds out faster than nitrogen, what is it that bleeds out, the 21% oxygen?? If so you end up with the 78% nitrogen anyway !! plus the 1% assorted stuff. This is just the usual crap idea to justify the cost !!
As said already a complete wank and a commercial opportunity to sell crap ideas to the gullible punters IMHO using some suspect facts.
I have used nitrogen in all my vehicles tyres for the past 15 years or so mainly because I had free access to it but found that I never had to top up my tyres and I got nearly double the mileage as they never heated up on the road. Nitrogen is an inert gas and won't freeze or heat up. That is the main reason they use it in aviation. I hope this helps. Regards Phil.

Hi Phil,
Sorry to say this but the facts do not support your statements. "twice the mileage " YOU WISH
If you have good brand tires with a quality lining then the pressure loss is minimal WHATEVER THE GAS IS INSIDE. I recall doing a test at a tire shop many years ago on a reps car with Mitchelin tires and it went for a complete set of tires without putting air in them. No nitrogen BS back in the late 60s.

So, using that theory, Liquid Nitrogen is the same temperature as gaseous nitrogen? Actually it's the flexing of the tyre that causes heat, which in turn causes the inflation gas to heat up and expand. Maybe nitrogen doesn't expand as much as ordinary air, but I couldn't really be bothered to look it up as someone else pointed out... in an ordinary motor vehicle, or van.. a TWOTAM.

It's not a pissing contest mate, but if you put up misleading and completely incorrect information you're bound to cop a bit of a pasting.
Suggesting that using nitrogen in your tyres will double their life isn't just misleading, it's utter nonsense.
An inert gas is one that does not react with other substances, it has nothing to do with how it responds to temperature change. Nitrogen will heat and cool just like any other gas, or any kind of matter. Nitrogen and oxygen expand at almost exactly the same rate with temperature change.
You may have access to free nitrogen, but for those that would have to pay for it, it's worse than a waste of money. Using nitrogen will in fact cost you more in the long run. At $5 per tyre to top up, even topping up twice would far outweigh any increase in tyre life you might think you'll get, which I believe to be zero in any case.

What is this like a gang here? Lets all get together and beat the the **** out of the new bloke. CMG's have tried it. I thought you gn"s (obviously only in this little group) would be above this sort of bulling, but if it's in the gene pool and there is no life guard so be it.
CMG (Criminal Motorcycle Gangs ) for the non informed.
Phil, come and join me. We'll be a gang of 2 (supported by a few who often PM me as they don't wish to draw attention to themselves)

Just remember the old saying about arguing with fools, being dragged down to their level and being beaten by their experience. Heed that and you'll enjoy it here.
