Ball weight on jayco Starcraft outback

Has anyone had a problem with a Jayco Starcraft Outback 16ft with a rear ensuite and a truma airconditioner on the roof and also a solar panel on the roof. We picked up the van on 18 May brand new from Jayco and took it up to Wangaratta the following weekend for its first trip - when we got home we decided to put it on the ball weight scales to see what the ball weight was and even though both water tanks were 2/3rds full it came in at 250kg. The compliance plate reads empty ball mass of 182 and maximum ball loading of 220kg!! The tare weight is 1718 GTM is 1911 and ATM is 2030. We have sent an email to Page Bros and to Jayco regarding this last Tuesday and are awaiting their response. Can anyone help in the meantime as we are planning a long trip in the new van at the end don't of July.

 Wouldn't hold my breath.

Weight sounds a bit on the heavy side, but the only problem  I can see is the validity of the of the number on the compliance plate.

The bigger the tow ball weight, the better the van will tow.

Our Avan caravan was plated ''as it left the factory'', but after having airconditioning & a roll out awning fitted it was totally wrong. We can't put anything in the front boot of our van & we carry a lot of things on either side of the rear double bed (behind the single axle) to take weight off the ball. Our portable solar panels & fold up table sit on the floor at the feet end of our double bed (behind the axle) to reduce ball weight as well. This gives us a ball weight of 150kg with half a tank of water when the 2x4kg gas bottles are full. We put some of our food in plastic containers & carry it in the rear seat/tray of our dual cab ute. Ball weight is a ''balancing act''. It takes a bit of sorting out.

These ball weights are a joke! We got a phone call frun Jayco on Friday to say they would issue us with a new compliance plate with a maximum ball weight of 280kg which should get us out of trouble. They sort of indicated that we were not the Lone Ranger in having this sort of problem! We went to a local Jayco dealer yesterday and checked out the compliance plates on similar new vans to ours and they were all over the shop! But none were anywhere near the maximum of 280kg which Jayco have now allowed us. We have no idea how they calculate the maximum weight but we think there may be a lot of Jayco vans travelling around who have not measured their ball weight and who are over the maximum weight
