left perth at 12.30 pm on Friday and arrived in the barrossa valley on Wednesday morning at 6.30 am. Quite a bit of early morning and late nights. The only live animals were 1 small roo, couple of rabbits and a lonely owl. Quite a few dead ones on the WA end of the eyre h/way. The head wind in the day time was terrible and at times I was down to 70 kmh, Very little wind at night or early morning. Seen a few other vanners doing the same driving times as me. So I am heading to Vic in the next day or so preparing to get on the Spirit of Tassie on the 11th for the final leg home. For those that say going to Tassie is too dear I have just paid $749 for a patrol and a 8.5 m (overall lenth) van
Sounds like you had a good trip across from the "Wild West" Blaze. Enjoy The Barrossa while you are there. Travel safe into VIC and then across the ocean waves on the good ship "Spirit". A very good price indeed. I wonder if the big difference in cost is due to winter months ?.
If you have never been on the Spririt at night and you have a cabin booked can I suggest you take your own pillows to the cabin with you. You probably already know but make sure everything you want while on the Spririt you take from car and van with you as you can't go back to car once underway.

done the spirit trip a lot, don't like cabins as I feel to closed in. I take a sleeping bag in a backpack and after about 11pm I go up to deck 9 and they have padded bench seats, they leave me alone up there, I get a perfect sleep until entering the river. When the good lady wife travels with me we book a cabin and I still go up top with my sleeping bag

the winter rates on the Spirit are about half that compared to the summer months.........we're going to do a winter Tassie visit. Currently getting lessons on how to construct igloos in Melbourne lol
