Antennas

looking at buying a Saturn Omni 3000. Wondering if it's worth paying so much or are there cheaper ones that are pretty good. Decisions, decisions. Hope someone can help!

I retrofitted one to my MH. If there is a signal they will pick it up.

Just had a look at them on this site. At $425 I think there are better value antennas around. Our club was given the loan of one from a local caravan parts supplier to try it out before they stocked them. We were at Leeton for the rally, the reception is not particularly brilliant in town. Some of us got a poor signal, others got nothing. I would not bother looking at them again.

I would recommend the Digimatch VHF/UHF Economy 7 Element or the Log-Periodic 32 Element VHF/UHF TV Antenna models. Either one will require a masthead amplifier for remote signal areas. At around $80 plus $60 - 80 they are much better value and you have more chance of picking up a signal.

We have a Saturn it came with the van. We found that best reception is not always when it is in fully up position. We have even had great reception with the Saturn still in the fully down position. Then anywhere in between.
So if you do buy one dont just assume the Saturn must be fully up to get reception.
They are expensive but we have had good reception when other have not, thats not to say they are the best I wouldn't know but we are happy with ours.

We have one that we used with our poptop that we have now sold and have purchased a Jayco Sterling which already has an aerial. The saturn had really good reception on our trip last year but we are considering selling it as we don't need the two aerials.

Thanks everyone. Still thinking about it. Hope I make up my mind before I leave. Last year didn't turn the TV on once. Just shows didn't need it to have a good time. Noela.
