just a reminder for everyone to check there fire alarms ,as the batteries have a use by date .Laying in bed the other nite the alarm went off making a hell of a noise ,It woke us up so took it down and it had been up since our last trip away over a year ago.No damage done ,the batteries were on the way out and needed replacing .It was a timely reminder ,So as a matter of safety ,just do it it could save your life.

You normally get a warning on most smoke alarms when the battery is getting low. The unit will give one beep every minute. Then it's time to change the battery...

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
That is so but if you are not using your caravan or motorhome at the time you will not hear the warming and next time you use your rig the smoke alarm has a flat battery and you are not aware the your alarm is not working
Even though we live in our M/h full time the smoke alarm is tested monthly, and more often if wife forgets to silence it before making toast, also test the EPIRB and shake the fire extinguishers. A few of the 'must dos' .
If you have your van registered in NSW there are is a little more required for your alarm. By law it must be fitted with a hush button. It is an offence in NSW to remove or cover smoke alarms when your are cooking your toast (or anything else.)

Someone a few houses away burnt their BBQ last week, smoke everywhere outside,,, 5 smoke alarms going off in our house,,, get the ladder batteries out etc. One wouldn't reset so replaced under Bunnings refund easily.
