Is anyone heading South?

We arrived home in Melbourne today after spending 3 enjoyable weeks traveling up the Cobb Hwy as far North as Booligal. We then cut across to Hillston on the Kidman Way & travelled South via Griffith & Tocumwal back into VIC.

Our hands are tired from waving back at oncoming RV's heading North obviously to QLD. It must be bedlam up there with the huge numbers of people avoiding the cooler weather down South. We were glad that we were heading in the opposite direction. Is anyone getting away from the crowds & heading South like we did?

Mmmmm I am South at the moment and can't wait for the house sale to be finalised and my next hospital appointment to be over so that we can head NORTH. biggrin

we are off Wednesday with our dog and going to Hamilton for two nights then want to perhaps go to s.a and look around. Did you free camp. Worried that being a long weekend, too busy some places. We plan about ten days depending on the cold. We have a camper trailer

Just returned to Melbourne from a 5 week trip that took us to Canberra (grandad duties); Cowra; Lightning Ridge for 10 days; Griffith to see friends; Bendigo - grandparent stuff.
Not appreciating the chilly day, raon showers and possible snow nearby.
Yes, there were a lot of rigs heading north! Still too many of them with big tail backs when they had clearly had opportunity to let some pass.
We followed an oversize truck, with escort vehicle, from just south of Gilgandra, to south of Forbes. He was doing same speed as us, so we just followed - but not too close. It was interesting watching the reactions and techniques of oncoming drivers. Some got way much further off the road than they needed to.
