Arrived in Goomeri this afternoon and went to the showgrounds to see if we could book in for a few nights. As we approached we saw the place is quite busy but didn't look full so drove in and have been lucky enough to get a spot. I don't know if it is normal but they have opened the gates to allow people to set up on the oval. Anyway we weretold we had picked a great weekend as the Pumpkin Festival is on on Sunday and the town has lots of activities happening. Have had a look at the program and it does seem to be a jam packed day with the main event being the pumpkin roll happening on Policeman's Hill at 2pm. I hope to get loads of pics and figure this is something I would never have seen if I didn't become a grey nomad

I had a great day at the festival....wandered around the markets for most of the morning, everytime I headed to the pig races I would get side tracked by some display or other so missed every pig race but the displays I saw well made up for it. When the time came for the pumpkin roll it was hard to find a good vantage spot as there was so many people there but I did manage to see quite a lot of it....man could some ( 2 ) of those pumpkins get up some speed and distance. I would highly recommend any one in the Goomeri area on the last Sunday in May take time to check out this event.

That sounds like fun but where is Goomeri please. And just a point people that write up on festivals and so on to please put what state they are as it is not always easy to find. And that will give us time to get there
