Having just toured the southern downs to the south / south east of Toowoomba Qld, I was stunned to see that unleaded fuel in Millmerran and Inglewood was around the $1.34 mark or less and yet the nightly news from Brisbane was claiming that the price in Brisbane was around $1.45/6.
Added to this I guess that the servo have to pay the freight to get their fuel to their pumps.
Back in the 1980/90 there was a government body call Prices Surveillance Authority ( PSA).
Any large national company who wished to increase it prices had to apply to the PSA for approval or otherwise.
I do not know of this authority still exists but if it does, whay the hell is it doing regarding the large number of price increase that we the consumer has to accept.
Can anyone add any further info re my comment?? I think I have it right quoting the PSA.
Don't believe what you see on TV - we drove down to Brissie 2 days ago and fuel was available everywhere for under $1.30 - in Toowoomba it's $1.27. Also you need to know what they call fuel...is it ULP or E10 or premium.
Regards
petrol pricing is all a scam and controlled by the oil companies, Coles and Woolies - nothing to do with the actual oil price you see going up and down in the TV news.
These outfits buy fuel months ahead, especially when crude oil is low. I know - I sued to work as a senior manager for BP. Then they control what price they will sell to the market - the spot price for crude is irrelevant to what you pay.
These companies screw you over - just like Coles and Woolies do in their markets and booze outlets

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
You're dead right there B&B, Not a hope in hell of seeing what the price of fuel tomorrow by looking at the T.V.
last week I noticed the price near our place as being around $1.35 p/l, the T.V. said that night, get ready for a 10c jump in price tomorrow,
The next morning I happened to go past the same Station and wondered why the place was packed to the wall with cars,
Then I saw the fuel price for the day advertised ...... $ 1.13 p/l with a shopper docket of course being Woolworth's, but how the heck can they go the other way with the prices, when the toothless tiger called "Fuelwatch" does nothing about it.
I no longer drive around looking for cheap fuel, if I see some that's reasonably priced, I buy it there and then .

They make their own Bo Diesel, and get all their product for free. they collect used cooking oil from ....................... and it saves .................. from paying to get rid of it at cost.
They run older diesel cars that can run on it.
My mate complained one time when he ran short, when he was returning to Sydney and had to top up with $20 at Taree.
He buys old Mercdes Benz type cars. Such a tight A..s...s
How does 70lts per week sound. Greenie through and through.
You can blame the price variance country and city on those that supported BH PK and that labour mob, because it was them that canned the price equalization scheme where country was 1 to2 cents to a 5cent max for more remote communities.
A big slap in the face to the Bush who didn't ever vote Labour
Well just watched the news tonight, not good, the government wants to increase the tax on fuel not once a year but twice, increase will be higher than CPI ???? I would hate to see how much it will cost in the bush then

Life is like a toilet roll, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.
In Townsville the price for unleaded is currently around 144.9a litre, but down in the Burdiken, 100kms south it is 129.7 at some servos. I, and many others, find this strange as said fuel comes into the port here in Townsville and is transports via road down to the Burdiken! Doesn't make much sense to me!!!
