You should find many threads on this site advising of cheaper alternatives - Such as No Frills/Home Brand "Nappi-San" type products that do the job quite well. Many ad extra deodorants such as Eucalyptus oil, etc.

We have been using woollies boost (2 caps each empty tank and a little water) and have had no problems with smell etc. we found the thetford stuff expensive and didn't do the job. Then we used the sachets and that was a waste of money as well (sorry Douge).

I have been told the chemicals in Boost start a composting process and helps stop any bad smell, all I can say it works well for us.

Cheers

We went around Australia (104 days) and only used 1 packet of Home Brand nappy was which cost under $5. I think the Thetford stuff contains formaldahyde which 'preserves' the contents whereas nappy wash biologically converts it so it is not dangerous. Plenty of threads on this subject.
Good Luck

Dennis, Around Australia in 104 days. I am guessing that you would have done something in the likes of 20,000 klms.

Equates to 200 klms ??? a day. How much tourism and sight seeing did you do? Do any fishing up north? Visit Cooktown? Would be good to tell us all, as many of us a planning a around OZ trip, but 104 days. Hey!!! did you visit Tassie ???

I am guessing that you must have missed a lot of our attractions.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the journey

P.S.

We also use the nappy generic pack.
