A friend of mine (Tom Cheong) flew these with the Catalina Squadron in Darwin during WW2 - A great Australian of Chinese Heritage. I'll always remember his hurt one day back in the 80's when he said to me "you know some punk just called me a SLOPE" - Never under estimate who you meet and call offensive/racist names.

On Palm island, Nth of Townsville QLD, there are wrecked Catalinas at a place called Curasao passage. There is a whole wing with the American rondels still on it. The local aboriginies are living in the fuselage.Yhere are so many rivets. The mind boggles at the work involved. Bill

I did a little bit of work on Cats back aways.

Same engines as the DC3/C47 as I recall, did a lot of work on them. Some DC3s had Pratts fitted, others Wrights.

Did a bit of work on the Boeing 707-138 parked at Longreach when it was new. Showing my age.

Take it easy.
