Fletcher Creek is not to bad, a free camp about 30 k up the Gregory development road, used to be plenty of red claw. I have been told Macrosan park is ok but never been there

I think so, you also have to tag your nets

John,

You do not need a fishing licence if only catching redclaw.

Cheers

If Macrossan hasn't been mowed for a while there is a place on the other side of the Hway called Bivouac junction that you have to pay at but I have heard good reports. I think that by this time of year the Fletcher will be a bit crowded (nice but crowded). I think there are 3 van parks in the Towers.
Enjoy.

Fletchers Creek is not currently crowded .. probably due to the fact that the spring is no longer with water .. just a bad scum presence .. (freecamp)

Macrossan yesterday had about 9 units there altogether .. (freecamp)

Bivuac Junction, although very dry stilll has room .. from camping to powered sites .. fees do apply !

Very little water about so don't expect lush grass .. rivers are very dry ..

Hello Cruisader,we were at Charters Towers last year aboutJuly and stayed at Top Tourist Pk, lovely position next to golf course with spacious sites. An interesting thing to see was a Texas Longhorn cattle ranch not far from the park. This was something quite different to do for tourists and a very interesting owner, with a tour of his property on a chuck wagon. There are pamphlets at C P office. Enjoy.

This site has a lot of things to see in Charters towers.

This map gives the parks in the area. I also can vouch for the Charters Towers Tourist Park  (Top Tourist.) - Badgers reports for Bivouac Junction - Macrossan
