Small Tow Vehicle

I've been looking at small vans to tow behind an Audi Q3 2.0 TFSI AWD. At this stage I've narrowed it down to a Jurgens 1901 or a Swift Explorer 2.

Couple of questions.

Anyone got either of these vans if so, any pros & cons with the vans features.

Has anyone had any experience towing small vans with such vehicles as the Q3, VW Tiguan TSI 4x4, Subaru Forrester 2.5i, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota RAV4, Jeep Compass 2.4L 4x4 or any other petrol 2 - 2.5 L, auto AWD / 4x4?

We have a jurgen lunagazer which is the model up from the 1901. My tow vehicle is a Toyota kluger. The weigh of ourvan unpacked is about 1750 and the kluger can only tow 2000. So we have to pack very light. Other than a few teething problem which I thing happens with most van we are extremely happy with the van and the service we have received from the manufacturer.only thing we don't have is a washing machine and seriously who needs one!!

Hi Spyderman. Great name our Grandsons just love Spyderman.

Back to your question, we did for sometime tow a top of the range Cub Off Road camper with all the bells and whistles weighing about 900 kgs empty with our Subaru Outback Auto 2.5 petrol. At that time of our life we were working and not a lot of free time, so mostly weekend short trips of say 400 ks round trip and a 2 longer ones of 2000 plus and a 7000 ks trip from Brisbane to Ayre Pennisular.

Yes at times it was slow but it did the job at around 14 litres to the hundred, out on the plains it would hold its own and was very comfortable.

Hope this helps, enjoy your travels. Ralph.

We towed a small Coromal compac 402 for several months - Syd - Darwin return with a Suzuki Grand Vitara, (v6). It performed ok, sometimes a bit slow if there was a wind or up hills. Main problem was the small fuel tank which gave limit range and was always worried we would not make the next town. I was concerned that the tow ball weight was being exceeded. I have since replaced the Suzuki with a ISUZU mux

Hi Spyderman, I have a 2007 Forester X 2.5, that I use to tow a Coromal 445, 2002 model, ATM 1240, Tare 994, with Alko ESC.
It tows it very well, the Forester handles it very easily.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe which towed my old 16.5ft Avan Rhys hard top and my new Elddis Avante 550 (1350Kg tare, 1750Kg loaded 55Kg ball weight) easily. I highly recommend you include the Elddis in your list. It's amazing!
