Weight Distribution Squeak

I am having an issue with our WD set up that at low speeds when coming into a caravan park or anything at all really the bars have a very loud squeak/squeal. Its getting to a stage that the wife and I try to hide when we come into caravan parks etc.

How can I remedy the problem, so we don't announce our arrival anymore.

Welcome to the gang Bundy Buddies, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I'm not sure of any solution as I don't use WD, at this stage anyway. However, for what it's worth, I have heard many vans doing what you describe.

We have the 4 bar shepherds crook setup and if it creaks we hit it with WD40. Cheap and simple.

we use silicon spray works well and not as messy as some. Graphite spray works as well bit more messy though

G'day and welcome. Silicon spray was recommended to us. used it no more noise nice and clean as well.

Go to Repco  and bye  a stick of Dry Lube and rub it on all moving parts,and the WDH.

As I still travel via some dirt roads, I changed away from the "sprays" to the dry lube.

It stopped the collection of dust to the external surfaces as the dry lube can be applied directly to the engaged surfaces as required ..

.. my choice only, as all appeared to function quite well ..

I have a Equalizer weight distribution and anti sway hitch.  I have old disc brake pads to stop the noise , plus it aids the anti sway. no metal to metal noise.

I use the hayman reece grease. Doesn't attract dust. Usually it is the chain that is noisy so just put a bit of grease where the links rub.

We don't need or use a WDH with our 17ft long 1.6 ton van. We love hearing new arrivals in camping areas. We always say that we're glad we didn't invest in 3.5ton of groaning metal with an en-suite attached that no-one uses except for a pee in the middle of the night. LOL. Saves on fuel too. The money we didn't outlay for a larger van is still invested earning interest. LOL.
Your rig may not need a WDH. A lot of people fit them because it's the traditional, done thing to do.

I not very fust about them either but there is plenty on here who would go to great length to prove us wrong while we earn a bit of interest with our hard earned money. Ralph.
