What does a towball rating have to do with an accident and the insurance company checking it?.....they have to prove it was a contributory factor to the cause of the accident.
If after an accident the insurance company was able to do a full safety/roadworthy check on your tug and van then they would never have to pay - they would find a fault even in a brand new vehicle.
My towbar is rated at 1600KG and my towball at 2300KG but my camper has an ATM of 1140KG so does that mean my insurance is null and void because my towball is not rated at 3500KG?
Could be another rated "D" shackle furphy!.
Towbar rated at 2800kg, Max ball weight 250kg, new 1'' lift tow ball rated at 2000kg (stamped).
Actual weight of van fully loaded 1550kg, weight on ball 160kg.
Problems with insurance none.
