Truck Diesel

Yesterday I brought truck Diesel in Griffith at a Shell truck self serve card only for $1.23 , Caltex 50 mts away $1.37 and Woolworths about 1 klm away $ 1.37 . The only catch is the big nozzle has to be able to fit into your filler and it did on my Prado a big saving on 150 lts

I actually asked a truckie a couple of days ago about the difference in using their diesel and using the Caltex Vortex. He did seem to think it was better for my engine if i didnt use the truck one. Didnt check the price but no doubt paid more. Not sure what the difference in quality it. I am sure someone will know on the forum.

Caltex Vortex has an anti-foaming agent, which means you can fill faster and not get splashback. Because it doesn't foam, it doesn't trigger the pumps cut off prematurely. I've heard people say that it doesn't smell as strongly, but that might just be due to the fact that the truck diesel pumps, due to a lack of anti foaming agent, get wet more readily and the diesel is more likely to end up on your hands.

I don't think there's much difference beyond that, but you could read the product data sheet for the different diesels on offer if you want to know more. Most, if not all the fuel companies a have a 'Premium' product on offer... at a 'Premium' price of course biggrin

Cheers, Steve.
