Insurance Quote

Trying to get an insurance quote. Every caravan insurance company comes up on a search when on-line quote is mentioned. However none of them actually give one on-line. Must be a phone call.

However, on calling one insurer I went thru 5 levels of menu before I got into a queue for a van quote. Hung on until I thought it was a tad too long. There was an option to have them call me. However, all that happened was a computer called me instantly and put me back in the same queue. I suspect that I maybe in a call centre for many companies using the same underwriter. When you call 13 xxxx, the centre has xxxx converted to a name so the consultant answers, that person knows who to answer on behalf of.

Next one I tried will only deal with you if you have a mobile phone.

Does anyone know of any company who can do an on-line or e-mail quote?

Not an online quote but you only speak with one person at Ken Tame. Problem is you have to be a member of the CMCA and insure car and van.

We're with YOUI as well - you have the option of sending them an email where they ask what is a good time for them to call you...takes all the hassle out of hanging on a dead phone. It's on their home page.

I tried youi with all my other insurances earlier this year but would only call me back on a mobile. I posted on their Facebook site if I could only deal with them by calling them direct or having them call me on a mobile. Their reply was yes. They don't even have an e-mail address. Call me old fashioned, but I've never had a good experience dealing with salespeople over the phone. Shop fronts or mail seem to have disappeared. I wonder how deaf people get on these days?

That's strange - I just went to YOUI's contact page where they have the "leave a message" form and it shows a 10 digit number which is also for landline when you add the area code - I suppose they need this as they are based in Qld and if you ring from interstate they need the area code. They also ask which number to ring - mobile, home or work, so maybe the Facebook info is incorrect.

I did the ring around earlier this year for quotes just for reassurance as I have been with Ken Tame for 7 years. Youi was the only one that came close to what I pay but their excesses for claims were much higher. "That's where they get you".

We went with WFI, you deal with a local office(well next big town) and a person actually answers the phone.

The price was excellent when compared with the big names

We changed to Ken Tame this year.

Very easy to deal with. Agreed value. Lower excess. Reasonable premiums.

All done over the phone.

Remember with insurance companies . . . . . cheapest is not always best.cry

Racq works for us, expecting a price hike after last years hail damage claim all good 82 cents more.

Rang a few of the newer marketing companys they were not in the ball park and asked to many question.

Question how many times do you use your caravan? 3 times and its on the road 6 months. OK less then 6 times.

After 30 minutes of this Racq wins. Ralph.

Last year our Tug was with RACV, and the van with CIL. Moved both to Ken Tame, and saved about $1,000.

It is worth joining CMCA at those prices.

Call an insurance broker they deal with all insurers, and you will end up with the best policy, not maybe the cheapest, which is not going to be cheap if they don't give a good cover.

you are not qualified to judge which is best!

The NRMA now appears to offer cheaper cover if you nominate how many months your van is not on the road, if you change your mind and want additional months on the road, you just pay a small additional premium for each additional month.
I heard of this from a friend who is insured with them and I think the discount is max of 40% and with 5% premium for each month more than your nominated off the road months.
It seems that this insurance company is listening to what their customers want from their cover
Cheers
David

After 20 years and no claims with AMMI I changed to APIA for my car.

My ute insurance premium was way cheaper and my van premium is very reasonable. I tried the on-line quote for the van but it could not recognise my model and when I phoned they then added it to the list. The premium was very reasonable and included $2000 for contents.

Above all, it felt good being a human speaking to another human who was very knowledgeable and helpful the policy was processed over the phone with the on-line discount included. I did not wait in any queue.

Greetings all!
Naomi
