The Karratha shire and state government have ruled that in the Karratha and Roebourne shires that the maximum stay @ places like Cleavaville will be 28 days only, so the GN'S that
used to stay 3-4 months be aware before you plan your trip, cheers.
Im sure that wont be greeted by cheers from those that stay there for 2-3 months, but the sites are fairly limited and this way its shared much more fairly.
Im all for low cost sites - drop toilets, formed sites and where available, water for between $5 to $10 a night depending on water supply. Theres plenty of nomads who would be a permanent camp volunteer to look after and keep the facilities up to scratch and make sure people only stay the allocated time in return for a free site and a monthly fuel allowance (as the WA Govt does for its National Parks volunteers now)

theres a beach front site just north of Geraldton WA, run by the local Shire. Has a full time caretaker who gets paid by having a free site. Drop toilets, tiny sites, very average beach and no water/power. Went there late last year (not in high season). It was packed out and they wanted $20!!!!!!! a night - a total rip off. We went a bit further north to Northampton and stayed at a proper CP for $120 a week. Power, water well maintained large sites and one of the cleanest toilets/showers we've ever seen - even had real flowers in the toilet area which were changed each day. Some Councils/Shires see RVers as a mobile rip-off
