At Last ...feeling both excited & trepiditious

Well the time has finally arrived and we can leave on our big trip. Hopefully we will be on the road within the next 2 weeks heading in an anti clockwise direction from Brisbane. Plan to be gone for about 12 months but that time is not set in concrete. Are leaving our 2 grown sons to look after the house while we are gone so they will pay bills and forward any mail if needed. Car rego, insurance is sorted, all our cards have been renewed so none expire while we are away, carer sorted for my elderly mum ( my brother is taking over ), going to Drs this arvo to get scripts, hubby has arranged scripts & medications for himself as well as set up SKYPE for specialist appts. We have taken the van away a few times to make sure solar etc is working ok and all fine there.

What else should I arrange before we leave ?

Fantastic.

What a great experience lies ahead.

We did something very like this in 2000.  Much cheaper & less crowded then.

Done >200,000km in the van since then but the first big one is still the favorite.

You have it pretty well covered Jackie. The time has come to just enjoy the playground. When you get to Townsville send up the smoke signals and we might be able to catch up.

Keep Safe

sounds like you have it pretty well nailed down. Your sons (in between the wild parties and call girls - no just kidding you lol) will no doubt phone, text or email you with any important letters on things you may have missed.

RELAX, ENJOY, LOOK AT THE SCENARY AND DONT DRIVE TOO MANY HOURS EACH DAY.............and don't fight or argue in your 'van - it is so much smaller than being in a house fulltime - just agree to only THINK about bitching - don't argue and spoil your fantastic trip

Bruce and Bev my biggest worry at this time is how the hell am I going to put up with hubby 24/7 in such a confined area but then I remember we are going to the great outdoors and there will be heaps of places I can bury him where he will never be found

Hi Jackie, my wife and I have been in the caravan full time now for 2 years. We came up with a plan that lets each of us have "my" time. for one day each week we let ourselves do what each wants to do, ie. I will play on the Xbox wife will knit our chill with the grandies or just plain sleep. It's a day we as individuals own and can do with as we please, keeps us sane and the relationship fresh (we have been married 44 years this October)

good luck out there, it's great fun, set a safe speed and don't let idiots ruin your trip.

Im looking forward to hearing of your travels

cheers
