What's the best way to secure my sat dish to the rear bumper of new van for transporting only. I know many just lay them on top of their bed in the daytime while traveling, however, if I want to just take a nap after lunch or not needing to use it some days I need to secure it. Its a camper sat dish, with about a 60mm round post fixed to the dish. I was thinking about welding up a tee section held to the bar with u bolts. then drilling a hole across to put a receiver style tow bar lock to stop theft. any other ways you may already use?
I made up a C section that clamps to the bumper on the inside with a mast welded to it to hold the dish. Replaced the wing nuts with nyloc's. Yes it means carrying a spanner, no big deal as it's secure.
Both give me further Ideas. Will have to take a trip out to Jayco's yard at St Marys here in Sydney, plus take my tape musure to check the bar size plus other bits my brain is ticking over on. We don't take delivery till December. Our choice.
Hi Jim, I store mine in front of the gas bottles with an adjustable cable, more secure than the old occy strap, as I have a trail mate "jockey wheel" there is no rotating handle needed so have plenty room.

ours is in a soft padded bag which goes on top of the Q bed (with a towel underneath it) when travelling. When stopped and not in use, it goes under the 'van (bit awkard to steal and not sellable without all the other bits that belong to the setup.
Just be careful if you put it on front draw bar it doesn't get badly stone dented as it may affect its performance a bit

Our sat dish is mounted on a pole that fits into a jockey wheel mount welded onto the drawbar and that's where it stays. It's turned around to face the van and lowered so that its below the ute roof. Don't remove the LMB, just make sure the sat dish is vertical. Wing screws are tightened with a small shifter to lock everything up. Done almost 30K with this arrangement without a problem.
