Not sure how many know about Plantation Campground approx 8-10km North of Halls Gap Vic.. Great spot with part of the Grampian Range soaring above it to the west. Has good long drops, bucket shower, and rain & creek water. It is free. Designated camp spots for caravans & Motorhomes, and loads of room for tents etc. This week we have had lousy weather but it is still a beautiful spot. A few kms of corrugated road to get in but worth it. We were going to start our treck at Greens but had to start from Peterborough on the great ocean road to catch up with friends. You will find the camp site on WikiCamps. Cheers, and happy travels. Brownie2
Bob - sounds a great place - will visit it. Probably unknown to many, so if you can take the time to follow through on KFT's suggestion so this post doesn't disappear within a week or so under the weight of new posts.
Cheers and thanks
Bruce

Hi Bruce & Frank, I will get the info on the other forum asap. One problem with this camp site is the dodgy phone signal. Took ages to get the post on with the picture. Still beautiful here although we thought our awning was going to finish up back home in Inverloch last night! It is tucked away now! Cheers Brownie2
We dropped in to this camp site for a look 5 weeks ago after doing the round trip of the McKenzie Falls through to Wartook and back along Mt Zero Rd.
While there I spoke with a couple of Park Rangers doing maintenance who were telling me that the National parks had spent a small fortune
upgrading in the last few years with new toilets, bucket showers, fencing of sites and the camps water tanks were spring fed.
Then one of them mentioned that it might be FREE for now (as it is in State Forest) and has always been FREE but that the PARKS where trying to have the area changed
to National Parks and therefore would be charging FEES to recoup their expenditure.
That would be right! I can't believe what Parks Victoria are doing! They will soon have no one to look at the beautiful places we have down here. All the campers that have used this place over the past week have appreciated the work done, and I haven't seen one bit of rubbish left behind (no bins). How sad to think that Parks Victoria would consider placing exorbitant fees on something we should all be able to visit, and have the right to visit, as tax paying and rate paying Victorians and Australians, let alone our international tourists that love to see our unique country. We have a place not too far from where we live (Bear Gully) in South Gippsland with a long drop toilet and nothing else, that they now charge high prices for.. Get a grip I say....Rant over!
