Rear View Camera Info needed

Hi - I am looking for a dedicated rear view camera for my bus. I already have a rear view camera which is dedicated to reversing. In other words when I shift into reverse then this camera will come on and I can see what is happening immediately behind me on a screen. I am now wanting another camera which will be facing back so I can see what is going on way down the road behind me. I want this camera hooked up to a separate monitor on my dash (9") and will switch on when the ignition starts. This new camera MUST be waterproof, HD, CCD, Colour, 120deg angle and able to record. I seem to be able to find a number of cameras which fill most of these must haves except the record. Perhaps they don't exist or only exist in expensive camera/monitor bundles. Anyway if anyone can suggest something for me then I would be most appreciative.

Have a look at Safety Dave website, they are a little expensive but very good. You could get a dual camera that does both jobs, regardless his website worth a look.

Do you already have the monitor or are you after a complete setup?

Steve.

These units have a history of playing up so buy yourself a decent unit. I noticed that Safety Daves as mentioned in a previous post carries a good warranty. The camera MUST be waterproof, some say they are gut put the hose on them lightly and they fail.

Safety Dave's reversing cameras are great. They have a full replacement warranty and are really waterproof. The one I have is hard wired, has two cameras that stay on all the time, not just when reversing. One looks back up the road and the other looks down at the towbar .You can switch between the two on your monitor. They are fully adjustable and have a speaker in there as well so that I can hear people and cars behind me. I don't use this at all but it is good to know that it is there. The cameras are all metal, so no cheap plastic parts and the auto electrician that installed it was very impressed. It can't record but give Safety Dave a call, as they can do just about anything you want. I ordered my unit and it arrived the next day I'm.very happy with the unit and the service I received. Cheers Lynne

Speak of the devil ....Our camera packed it in today so I emailed Safety Dave. He called me back and now a replacement is on its way. He is a young bloke having a go and offering great product at a great service with a fair price. Service is excellent. Sure there are units on ebay...but they are no match for the gear this bloke has I can asure you.

I have 3 x Safety Dave cameras , one in the middle of the Towbar one in the middle of the bar behind the cab , Dmax space cab , tray .
and one on the back of the Tvan . Can't record and can only use 2 at a time , when towing I just usually unhook the tow bar one after I have connected , then use the one on the Tvan for rear view , they have power all the time when the key is on , I just turn the monitor on or off .
I can change between cameras with the push of a button .
I use a 92deg for rear view any wider would make the cars behind seem too far away .

That's a bit strange not having prices on the website. I notice a lot of the cams are very similar to many on Ebay anyway.
