As some GN's would know, two of our members Sufil host a GN Get Together on their property near there from time to time next one coming up (see GTG's).
its a pity the doctor is leaving the locals without medical care over his political issues concerning erosion.
No-one who knows the area (we live about 30 mins south and we also have beach erosion problems) doubts that it is a very serious issue, but in making a stand like this, he is not going to change anything, other than the locals having to travel long distances to see a doctor.
The Councils controlling the coast acknowledge the erosion needs urgent works - but they don't have the capital funds to do the work and the State Govt is broke

Ya gotta feel for the bloke. I wouldn't want to be in his position.
His home would be valueless now - so no hope of a sale. So, he has only two choices - both necessitating leaving his home behind.
buy/rent another place in Seabird; or
buy/rent another place away from Seabird.
He is "retired" doctor - working part-time for the community. Perhaps the community could organise some 'assisted rental property' for him to keep him there.
Either way, he is out of pocket and out a home - at the moment anyway.
Cheers - John

After looking at the picture, houses or any thing built on sand by unprotected ocean is asking for trouble. Why would you buy land or property in that type of area is beyond me, as the sea will reclaim the area.
Daryl. Youre so right. Common sense would dictate not to buy land that is so risky, but 1000's all around Aust have done this - what do they say about building your house upon the sand. Where I live we are seeing people in similar situations - the erosion didn't happen in the last few years - it started many years ago and only got worse as the waste part of their land has disappeared and now their homes are at threat.
I really don't have the sympathy others have for his plight. As an intelligent person, I would have expected him to make wiser decisions......
