Dalby/Mundubbera

Help requested please for more trip planning. Having heard so much about Wuruma Dam I'd like to include it in our June trip to the Cape. Coming from Dalby could we take the road up past Boondooma to Mundubbera or wouldn't it be suitable that time of year? Would it be better to go Kingaroy, Wondai etc?

Thanks Dianne

Hi Dianne,

The road from Dalby to Mundubberra is a good sealed road with some undulations due to heavy vehicles over time. About 3 hours for a quick trip for the 210 kms. The Boondoomba Homestead, half way,  is a worthwhile stopover, with camping facilities & conducted tour.

We turn left at Eidsvold, a stopover on the Burnett River, Tolderoden Campground,  then the drive to Cracow on the newly, improved highway. Cracow has limited free camping facilities adjoining the museum, very popular. The Pub is a real experience. http://www.flyingtheoutback.com.au/cracow-pub

From Cracow the lovely drive to Theodore, on wide, sealed road, with mountains in Ida National Park, are spectacular first morning.

This route overcomes the mountainous & curvy trip from Monto to Biloela.

If you are considering the Cracow, Theodore route, what is your destination?
There are many great sealed roads throughout central Qld., due to the extensive coal mining, with easy access to Rocky, Mackay, Bowen, Townsville & Atherton Tablelands

We are absolutely open to excellent suggestions. This is the rough plan. Up the Newell from Finley NSW. Forbes , etc etc want to visit Wuruma Dam, I've got pages of plans I keep changing, I wan't to do everythingnono

The first coastal town is planned to be Gladstone, then up the coast to Cape Tribulation. Down to Mt Molloy up to Cape York, back to the Savannah Way, Karumba and Lawn Hill.

Then probably ???? Julia Creek, Hughenden, Cunumulla, I want Broken Hill to be in there too on the way back to Melbourne.
