European river cruise

We are thinking of doing a cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest next year. We would really like to hear opinions good or bad from people who have experienced this type of holiday.

I think you would have a trip of a life time

Make sure you have plenty of space on your memory cards for your camera

Its a fair bit of money but well worth it

Enjoy the time spending there

Regards John

Tezza. We did a river cruise from Nice to Paris. Went with some reluctance but it was fantastic. Cant wait to do another one. Great food, great scenery from the upper deck or whilst lying in bed at dawn as the sun comes up over passing ruins or old castles or small villages which you then stop at and wander through. Had to slow down the food cause after 4 days I could not see my feet. Enjoy

My sister did this cruise last year. Absolutely loved it.

If you can , then do it :), dont even think about it :). You will love it , we did with no regrets though we started in Budapest n ended up in Amstadam.

The only part we didnt like was the lack of help finding teminals in Heathrow n Dubai.

Take extra cards for the Camera as well as spare Batteries as the scenery is stunning as well as the excursions.

Food , food n more food n drink without cost to you depending on who you are travelling with.

You are pampered also so make the most of it lol.

If you are looking at a European holiday you should  also look at "drive yourself "and stay at  "B and B's " etc. (also known as Pensions and other local European names )  . In our experience , for 2 persons , you can stay approx. 4 times longer  for the same cost as a 2 week river cruise.  To each their own but often I see people overlook this easy, cheap way  to see Western Europe without timeframes or bookings . (English is spoken or understood virtually everywhere )  This method works  also in USA and Canada  but using cheap , clean ,  Motels . (Motel 6 or Super 8  motel chains  - country wide)  If you are able to drive a car and caravan or mobile home in Australia you are more than qualified to drive a car in Europe or USA.  Since the introduction of Sat.Nav. systems, in the last few years ,  it has made navigation so easy no matter where you want to go and lets both driver and passenger enjoy the trip without worrying about looking for sign posts and turn offs etc..and also finds accomodation each night . It has revolutionised travelling by car in overseas countries. Car Leasing from Peugot in Europe is also a little known but cheap way to have the use of a new car whilst in Europe .

If money is an issue,  which it generally is , there are alternatives for travel. These alternatives are never  advertised because there are no "middlemen "  making a big profit  if you organise  it yourself.

Just thought our experience may be of help to someone.
