Hi all, jut thought I'd post a timely reminder to all of you that travel with pets, please please do the right thing with your pet.
Not saying many of us don't already but there is still the minority that think their dog or cat doesn't come under the rules for some reason. Just reading a post on caravaners forum, and there is so many pet haters out there, just waiting for that excuse to bitch and complain.
For what it's worth, we travel full time with a King Charles and a Springer spaniel, they don't bark at others, and we never let them roam off the lead unless in a designated area, and the worst gripe for most pet haters, we always carry bags and pick up.
Believe me there are still those that don't ! especially little fluffy's owner that thinks it's such a tiny poo, no one will notice, or when they walk at 5-00am that no one is there to see.
Come on guy's and gals let's show these people we are responsible dog or cat owners, so we do not lose the privilege to take our pets to CP's etc.
As a responsible pet owner I find it infuriating too, to see piles of dog crap left by inconsiderate owners. Just think about it.
..... and there is so many pet haters out there, just waiting for that excuse to bitch and complain.
i don't like dogs and other pets peeing on everything and making noise that annoys others. I really don't like pet owners who do not control their animals and leave their pet's poo behind where ever. When I complain, I am not signalling that I am a pet hater. If I complain, I have legimate cause for complaint. I am not "just waiting for that excuse to bitch and complain". Good to make a post encouraging pet owners to do the right thing but not good to assume that those who do not like yappy dogs, and dog poo between their toes, are pet haters.

Not at all, Santa. Only someone trying to cause trouble would selectively quote my sentence in that way. In fact, Santa, I don't like your post. I suggest you remove it immediately.

I've seen so many people without pets poo and wee in the bush and they don't pick it up.maybe thats why i prefer my 2 Cavaliers to most humans amongst other things.
And for reference there are pet haters generally too, we have met a few. They look down there noses the moment they see you have dogs and give us a wide birth.
We are treated like we have the plague sometimes just because we choose to be travelling with our faithful friends. Yet I always do the right thing, our dogs have never caused a problem by barking, in fact my Springer spaniel has never barked once in her life, as far as we know, she is a very timid dog.
The only time our Cavalier barked to date was when some mongrel tried to steal a jerry can of fuel from my truck in the early hours, in some coastal NSW town CP. Being disturbed saved the theft.
Having said all that we do not foist our dogs on anyone, and they stay with our rig quietly, if we visit a neighbour for happy hour, if we have happy hour at our van then they are there as they are part of our family.
I don't wish to enter into a "bun fight" over this so that is all I'm going to say on the subject, but as my first post suggested there are the idiot dog owners that spoil it for everyone, and give more ammunition to the animal haters.
I don't know how you solve the problem between responsible owners and the other kind. I groomed dogs for 15 years and during that time had a boarding kennel for 7 years. If I see anyone travelling with a dog, cat, bird etc. I'll be over there in a flash. It's the same problem as good travelers who clean up and those that leave disgusting things behind them. I don't travel with my dog as she is not suitable for that way of life, being a German shepherd who has guard dog instincts. This will always be an ongoing problem but there are people out there that would like to meet your pets as we have to leave ours behind. I've met some great dogs on the road.
I travel with a rottie puppy who currently weighs 35kg at 7 months old, and growing, and a Labrador. Best dogs in the world, but I have to make sure sure I have at least 5 poo bags on the morning walk, 3 on the midday walk, 4 on the arvo walk and 2 on the night time walk!!!
Said with humour Some of us are responsible. And many of us have well trained dogs that respond to our commands......
Any donations to the finance of doggy Doo bags are kindly welcomed!!!!
Also. I'm in a CP at the moment. a complaint was put in that I had a Rottweiler. The caretakers objected to the complaint and the complainant now loves my dogs. She was just scared.....

Crikey 333, 2 dogs, 14 dumps a day! what are you feeding them?
If it's a a help re doggy do bags, we buy baby disposable nappy bags from the baby aisle in most supermarkets, cheap as like 400 bags for a few dollars.
We also get the local shire bags when available near dog beaches. My springer as said is a nervous dog and that carries through to being a nervous pooer (is that a word) not loose stools, just many small dumps so we can go through 6-8 bags a walk sometimes !
My wife and I always carry half a dozen bags in each pocket

good call Banjo, another good practice is to get another pet owner to listen out for barking yapping dogs when the owners go out for the day, as this happens a lot. at least if they are told by another pet owner they can't blame a so called pet hater for complaining.
Just in case the person who stopped at Temora Showground these last two days. He owns a very fat Labrador. He lets his dog just wander around when they they are meant to be on a lead at all times. That is not my gripe its that he lets his dog poo anywhere and does not clean it up. I had to clean up a poo on the cement area in the Trotting club area yesterday after we had seen him take her down that way. This morning the dog got out and did poo right near the campsite he was staying on. This gives us the responsible dog owners the s###s as we are then grouped with the unresponsible owners.
We use Woolies/Coles freezer bags for our two kelpies - prefer Woolies as they are slightly thicker/tougher.
The majority of people here in Tin Can Bay who let dogs roam/poop wherever, are locals. Not to say that some travellers don't (because they damn well do - including some of our neighbours), but the vast majority are residents.
