The new snail has a one piece fibreglass skin over it.Is it strong enough to kneel on to wash and polish, or will I have to do from the sides on the ladder and stretch.
I can here Lambie yelling at me, down the track to get off now.
The tow truck is bad enough. I have a 900mm platform ladder to stand on, and I have to lean over to reach the middle. Now the problem has growen to 2.4 mts.
I have the same problem with my caravan, our caravan is a jayco pop top and I've been up on the roof a couple of time, all 120 Kgs, i was spead out so as not to put to much pressure on one spot. The first time was to fit a couple of solar panels and was glad to get down off the roof, and the other time was to wash the roof and clean the solar panels, and yes was glad to get off yet again.
I have tryed a set of 6' steps, and a old broom and gurney, and truck wash. Yes that worked, but not as good as getting up and spreading one's self over the roof and using a plastic scouring pad, bucket of truck wash and a couple of old towles. A good hose down after, and good as new.

I inherited a Swirl-On Brush from my late Father-in-law. It is a rotating circular brush that's driven by water pressure. The garden hose attaches to the head & when the water is turned on it rotates the heads brushes. It's attached to a long broom stick like pole ideal for reaching over the top of a van while standing on an A-frame ladder. Does a great cleaning job. Wind out the awning & it does top & bottom surfaces while standing on the ground. A great piece of gear. Not sure if they're available these days?

Our land abounds in Natures gifts. Of beauty rich and rare.
I just use a step ladder and a broom, and a bucket of car wash detergent, all I've ever had to get off the top is bird poop and/or dust, I tip some suds out of the bucket onto the roof and give it a good scrub with the broom, one side at a time, and hose it off, our roof is flat, pop top, not too bad a job.
The car wash waxes as well as washes, and leaves a good finish, our Freedom is aluminium, always comes up shiny. (the roof is fibreglass)
I use the same method for the awning, except for upending the bucket, of course. Dip the broom in the bucket.
The swirl on brush sounds good too, anything that makes a job easier will get our votes, hey!
