Dometic diesel heater ? Is it working properly

We have just purchased a new van and had a Dometic diesel heater installed.  Not sure if we are using it properly. Have set the temp at 20. Heater comes on and basically the fan is going all the time and doesnt stop meaning it doesn't get up to 20. What temp should I set it at, I presumed it would come on, heat and then go off until temp dropped before starting up again. Is  my thinking correct or am I starting the temp too high. The monitor is on the outside wall (inside)  and wonder if this makes the difference.

Not knowing where you are located while trying to use the heater JB it could be something to do with outside ambient temp.

I have a gas heater in my den and it will only work below a certain temp. I think for memory that is about 15c approx. My memory is not good though :)

Hope you get it sorted before the real cold stuff hits.

Keep Safe.

We are up near Bright so pretty cold here at the moment. Will keep trying to find out a bit more about them. It all takes a while sorting out a new van and understanding the workings. Hope you are enjoying your van and warm where you are

There is "hot air" coming from the unit outlet ?

Is the interior temperature of the van  warming up and reaching the "Set Point Temp" that is 20 deg. Then maintaining that temp.

Or is it just going up rising past the "Set Point"  not shutting off or modulating down.

Depending on the ambient temperature the Unit should run (fan going)  maintaining that "Set Point temp"    It should modulate to maintain that desired temperature.   Ours will shut off completely when the ambient temperature is near what the "Set Point" is.   Starting up automatically now and then to  maintain the desired temp.

If it is cold, like 12 deg.C   ours will run all the time.  We usually have a vent or window open as well to allow some fresh air changeover in the van even on freezing nights.

We have a gas heater and initially did what you did.   We now start on "five" and turn it back to suit.   No more problems.   Friends have a diesel heater in their motor home and now start on five/max. It solved their start up problems.

Cheers
