Hi Cruisader, don't have a Silverline but have a van with the new Dometic fridge RM8551 series. These are the new offering from Dometic and are digital as opposed to the older analog. We had an analog and it worked brilliantly. Our new fridge is always on full power and barely keeps the fridge at 5 degrees C. This is an inherent problem with no easy fix. This fridge was installed in all the Silverline models. Unfortunately don't have an update as to wether or not this has been addressed properly. Our van is now with a Dometic agent getting the fridge looked at in order to get it to perform a bit better under warranty. I read somewhere that Jayco is 50% of Dometic business, so they may have some clout in getting Dometic to revise the way this fridge operates.

We have a Jayco Starcraft with the Dometic fridge and ours was freezing everything (even the eggs, not good for bacon an egg brekky) took a lot of playing with to get right still not that happy though.

Our old fridge was the same if you set it above 4 out of 8 and outside temp was around 30 degree C. Would have preferred  to have our old fridge back.

Our son has a Silverline that he uses regularly in WA both north and south of Perth, actually had Easter at Monkey Mia and he is more than happy with his van including the fridge so going by other comments they must have improved the installation.

Ive camped beside about 4 Silverlines in the past couple of weeks and they look great! One guy was having the usual Jayco problem with the doors falling off, but I reckon these are only suitable for sealed roads only.

I looked at one yesterday parked beside me as I sipped a glass of Merlot (yeah, ok, what a wouse) and the chassis rail only looks to be 4" and they are not one piece - the tow bar is welded (and very poorly welded with only a few 2" welds each side) to the chassis. I could hardly go over and measure the distance the bar went back under the rail - but it would make me nervous towing it along some of our shocking roads - especially in S.A

Picked up my Silverline Outback in June and have just finished a quick trip around Oz, 18000 klm. Very minor problems with the van, ie, door catch out of line, slight water leak but overall very impressed with the van. It towed really well and the electronic stability control obviously worked. I also fitted an Andersen anti sway system. Hope this helps
